Bangalore Rains: How The City Came To A Standstill!

By Team RW

To watch a complete timeline of the various flooding issues plaguing Bengaluru/Bangalore, follow us on Twitter. No area was untouched by the flooding on the night of Sept 4, 2022. The aftermath continued on Sept 5 and beyond.

The city was submerged, particularly the city’s arterial roads. Goes to show the mammoth waste of money, corruption, lethargy, lack of vision, and inept civic planning by the municipal body and state government. The reasons are many: encroachment of lakes, drains, roads and footpaths. Lack of vision and proper planning by the BBMP and BWSSB.

And the credit for this man-made disaster goes to the state government and its elected representatives. They take money to re-tar good roads and leave the bad roads to god. They de-silt the drains and leave the silt on the footpaths that are swept back into the drains after one spell of rain. No pre-monsoon planning for decades now.

Every political party is to be blamed. Every neta is to be blamed, and every citizen is to be blamed for voting inept people to power. It’s time to cast aside caste, creed, religion, party, and ideology, and only root for netas, public servants and bureaucrats who know their job: work for the public good.

India can never be an economic superpower if it continues to be ruled by caste, creed, religion, party, and ideology. We should arise above them all and be true Indians.
