Cyber crimes rose by 100 percent in 2019 compared to the previous year. While there were 5036 incidents in 2018, there were 9999 incidents reported in 2019. There could have been more, but the cyber crime station shut because its software was not able to process complaints that were more than four digits. Finally, it was fixed late in December, however, we were still not able to access complaints beyond 9999 for 2019. Similarly, the Cyber Crime cell of CID’s website itself lacks a secure certificate.
